Fun at the Park

On both Saturday and Sunday we took the kids over to the newly completed park in Dupont for a fine time.

Abigal’s Blessing

On Sunday we tooks some pictures before heading off to church for Abigal’s blessing.

Jeff was on a business trip so he was able to join in.

New Baby Arrives

We have a new granddaughter, Abigail Marie Wilhelm, our 8th grandchild. She was born on June 30th at 12:11 pm. She weighed 7lbs 2oz. and was 19 3/4 inches long. Mom and baby are doing great. Ann is having a great time helping out and loves the role of grandma.

Mother’s Day

Today is Mother’s Day. It is a day set aside so we can demonstrate our appreciation to our mothers for all they did to make us who we are. Mother’s Day is an important day because most of us don’t fully understand how much our mothers do for us. It is good that at least on this day we stop to reflect on that.

I had bought some flowers. It was a bunch of roses with four different colors, read, white, yellow and pink. It made me think about our four children. Like the four different colors in the bouquet, our children are all different but together they make up a beautiful family.

Franz then bar-b-qued some thick stakes for dinner.

Meanwhile Ann picked some strawberries from the plant she has been growing.

We then enjoyed a nice Mother’s Day dinner on our deck.

After cleaning up we enjoyed to video on our TV. I had created a DVD version with full resolution.

Slip Sliding Away

It was finally warm, warm enough break out the slip and slide before the grandkids went home. It took Kyle a few atempts to get use to it.

Natalie was much more reserved.

It was not long before Kyle went into the attack mode.

And Natalie finally got the hang of it.

Kyle put on his goggles to go even faster.

After getting some more sunscreen applied, Natalie joined back in the fun.

Cycling the 17 Mile Drive

We headed down to the Carmel/Monterey area for a fun day in the sun. It was still a bit on the cool side, but with no clouds in the sky it was beautiful. We started out getting a hotdog at the Costco in the Monterey area. Yum! After parking the van in the Monterey area, we unloaded three bikes for Franz, John and Amy. Ann took Kyle and Natalie to the nearby Dennis the Menace park while we biked through on the bike trail through Monterey, Fisherman’s warf then on to the 17 mile drive.

Meanwhile back at the Dennis the Menace park.

We all met at the end of the 17 mile drive in Carmel where did a switch. Ann got her bike and her and Franz biked back to Monterey via the 17 mile drive.

The others enjoyed some time on the Carmel beach.

San Diego Family Reunion

Most of the family was able to get together for a reunion at to San Diego. We stayed together in a condo, right on the bay. It was a bit cool, but it was sunny and the days were very enjoyable. It was a great chance for some of the kids and grandkids to see each other.

Nice 60th

So today Franz turned 60 years old. We started the celebration yesterday with a big bicycle club ride and lunch at our house. About 40 people showed up, riding anywhere from 67 to 116 miles and climbing up Henry Coe. Coming down the mountain was simply beautiful this time of the year with the lake full and the hills a lush green. It reminded me of the hills in Switzerland.

It was a lot of fun and the weather was great. Ann made this cute cake that said “you are not over the hill yet” with a bicycle climbing the hill. We tried to light all 60 candels but the fire alarm went off and the cake was melting from the intense heat.

Today is the actual birthday and another great day in California and it coincided with Easter. Ann cooked a great meal and we ate out on our deck.

You can see in the picture the new table we bought for the deck. It is great with a “Lazy Susan” built in the center so Ann just put the food there and we rotated it around to take what we wanted for our plates. It was very relaxing and we sat under the umbrella for sometime just talking after eating.

Ann then gave me my birthday present. It is a real cool cycling jacket that is very lightweight and compactable, but is made of some special fabric that when it gets wet, it undergoes a molecular change and becomes somewhat water proof.

Christmas in Gilroy

This year we spent Christmas Day in our Gilroy home. Greg was visiting during a break from his studies at BYU. Without the little children around, we slept in longer than I can ever recall on a Christmas morning. We were up for some time when we decided to wake up Greg. Here are some photos.

Later we went out for a ride on the tandem. The weather was on the cool side, but much warmer than when we were in Utah.

Chistmas Visit from Jeff, Lindsay, Hannah and Logan

Right before Christmas Eve, we had a wonderful visit for a couple of days from Jeff and his family. After we all went to church to hear Ann sing in the choir, we took these photos.

Then we celebrated Christmas together.
